Description:The Head Coach for Women's Swimming and Diving is responsible for implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving program at DePauw University. This includes recruiting quality student-athletes, organizing and planning practices and game strategies, scouting, coaching, scheduling, budgeting and planning team travel in compliance with University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. The Head Coach provides leadership in the personal, academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
This individual will also serve as the Assistant Aquatics Director on training and staffing Erdmann Natatorium.

Duties:
  • Understand and comply with NCAA Division III, conference and University rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student-athletes
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and a commitment to a diverse community.
  • Develop and carry out a comprehensive recruiting plan for the identification and recruitment of qualified student-athletes.
  • Develop and implement plans and strategies for practices and competition
  • Schedule meets, make transportation and lodging arrangements for team travel
  • Plan and manage Women's swimming & diving operating budget
  • Evaluate Women's swimming & diving program effectiveness
  • Monitor student-athletes' academic progression
  • Serve as a resource for campus entities wanting to use the pool.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director


  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required although a Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Three to seven years of related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, internet, Google Apps, and other programs as determined by specific sport responsibilities required; use of meet management and team management software also required.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license
  • Must hold Lifeguard certification
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have a commitment to and history of strong belief in mentoring students and demonstrated experience working with young adults
  • Must have a desire to work in a rural, small-school environment devoted to providing liberal arts education, building community, and helping students prepare for their future careers.
