| Description: | The Director of Web Services is responsible for coordinating and managing the design, development, and maintenance of the official DePauw University Web presence (www.depauw.edu), taking strategic direction from the Vice President of Communications and Strategic Initiatives and the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to ensure the Web site and related digital materials support Institutional objectives. Core responsibilities of this position include overall management of the Web site, directing the centralized Web development team, monitoring technical operations of University Web systems, and providing oversight for training and support for Web authors.

| Duties: | Direct and supervise the Web Team, key technical staff responsible for creating and supporting the University Web presence.
Maintain consistent graphic and editorial standards; ensure that applicable standards such as code validity, browser version compatibility, and link currency are met; optimize Web site architecture and information design for navigability and performance.
Review code development and implementation processes to achieve continuous quality improvement in project deliverables.
Assist with developing University Web policies, guidelines, and procedures and monitoring campus compliance.
Collaborate with other Information Services (IS) teams to define and implement interfaces for enabling interoperability of administrative information systems with the University Web site.
Facilitate communication amongst the Web Team and related staff who are responsible for Web and social media activities in other departments.
Suggest and generate new ideas to enhance the visibility of the University via the Web and the Internet.
Work with other IS teams to monitor regular maintenance, upgrades, and security for University Web systems. Ensure 24x7x365 coverage and performance of critical production systems.
Assist with managing relationships and collaborative projects with University's web hosting provider.
Plan for and coordinate Web authoring support and training for University campus authors.
Maintain a thorough and current understanding of Web and other electronic media.
Serve as a member of the senior Information Services leadership team.
Other duties at the direction of the Chief Information Officer.

| Qualifications: | Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; substantial career experience can be substituted for a degree.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expert knowledge and experience in developing web applications using ASP, .NET, Java, PHP, and/or similar modern programming languages.
Experience in administering and managing Web-based content management systems such as BigTree, Drupal, or similar systems preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing complex Web and database projects across all phases (design, testing, production) to schedule and budget.
Functional experience in departmental management, systems implementation, project management, and customer relations, preferably in a higher education or research environment.
Ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and time critical situations for multiple projects and clients.
Experience in publication writing and design, marketing, and public relations strategies desired. Experience with social media strategies in a professional setting a plus.
Strong skills in managing projects and people and proven diplomatic, leadership, and public speaking skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
Aptitude and motivation to acquire new skills is needed.
